Digital notetaking is becoming more popular as technology advances. Many students are purchasing iPads and Apple Pencils for their high school and college studies. I myself have jumped onto the bandwagon as well. If you want to leave paper behind and invest in an iPad, I highly recommend it! You do not need the newest and expensive model to take notes. While the newer models tend to have larger screens, the "budget" iPads are perfectly fine. I currently own the 2019 iPad and the 1st generation Apple Pencil. The screen is 10.2 inches and I find that it works just fine. As for notetaking, I use the popular app "Goodnotes5." In this article, I will be sharing how I take notes with this app.
Paper
There are many different options of paper to choose from in Goodnotes5. You can choose lined, grid, plain, etc. You can also decide between yellow, dark, or white paper. Personally, I use templates that I can easily download into the app. The templates I used are black A5 paper choices that were created and posted on Janicestudies.com. I only use her templates and the black paper doesn't strain my eyes as much as the white paper does.
Pen & Size
In Goodnotes5, there are three types of pens: Ballpoint, brush pen, and fountain pen. I use the ballpoint because I feel my handwriting looks the neatest with it. As for size, you can keep three different pen sizes on the top of your paper to switch between them (this is the same for color too). I personally use 0.2, 0.3, and 0.4. I use all three for different reasons and they are easily accessible.
