Technology is evolving every day. We now have tools that make our lives easier and more simple overall. While this gives us many advantages, certain types and brands of technology are expensive, and you need to decide whether or not you should invest money in them. As a high school senior who takes IB and honors classes, I purchased an iPad and Apple Pencil because I knew that I will be using it in high school and college. Here are a few reasons why you should purchase an iPad for school!
Textbooks
Let's be real, iPads can be pricey! Before you decide to purchase one, think about all of the added costs. For example, if you will be buying the Apple Pencil, that is another one-hundred dollars. If you want to buy digital notetaking apps, it will cost you fifteen to twenty dollars. Don't forget about any other apps and accessories to protect your device. If you use textbooks, you can easily download them onto your iPad for free or at a much lower cost. If you have an Apple Pencil or another stylus, you can write on the pages. I have been using my iPad for pdf textbooks for almost six months now and it has made a big difference.
Digital Notetaking/Paper
Digital notetaking has been a gamechanger for me! While it does take some getting used to in the beginning, it is a great way to save paper and edit. You can easily change colors, erase, add images, and move around your text. This makes notetaking faster and easier! Depending on the notetaking app you use, you can also record. Digital notetaking also saves lots of paper. Instead of throwing away all of your papers at the end of each school year, you only need to press delete! Personally, I used the app "Goodnotes5," and I have no complaints.
Overall Thoughts
Overall, I believe that purchasing an iPad for school has been very beneficial for me. Instead of carrying textbooks, binders, and tons of notebooks, I can carry a lightweight device that stores everything I need. If you are considering purchasing one, here's your sign!
